Digitalization, dematerialization, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, big data can provide a strong boost to improving efficiency in healthcare systems in a scenario of complex and rapidly evolving changes. Having timely access to the necessary information allows for more informed decisions: to boost innovation in the healthcare sector, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma e Intesa Sanpaolo they started theGlobal Health Observatory Supported laid down by the European Commission and from Ministry of University and Research.

The Observatory will be directed by teacher. Leandro Pecchia, Ordinary of BioingElectronics and Computer Engineering and President of the master's degreecourse in Biomedical Engineering UCBM and aims to promote the sustainable adoption of technological innovations for the reorganization of health services and contribute to generating a significant impact in the health and wellness sectors. The first study on the possibilities of adopting technologies by the national health system to support the creation of an Italian supply chain for innovation in the silver economy will be published at the beginning of 2025. The project was presented in front of more than 800 students during the stage in UCBM di 'B'Help Your Future', the program of meetings conceived by Intesa Sanpaolo and created in collaboration with schools and universities, to involve 10.000 students from all over Italy e inspire them on the major transformative processes of society such as digitalisation, artificial intelligence, blue and space economy, life sciences and others.

Next to the Observatory a Research laboratory coordinated by Prof. Pecchia with the aim of identifying the barriers that slow down the adoption of enabling technologies in the National Health System and involving companies, health agencies and businesses in the sector. The Laboratory will also have the role of incubator for actions such as education and training of personnel and the dissemination of research projects.

The Observatory and Laboratory involve six young researchers from Italy, Spain, Brazil, Ethiopia, Benin and the UK: a multidisciplinary team with doctors, ingengineers, economists, computer scientists and a philosopher expert in bioethics. The laboratory has already attracted important European funding for the design and development of new Proof of Concept for Ebola, the greening of hospitals, the integration of care for cardiovascular patients by networking centers of excellence and territory, the growth of the culture of research-based teaching in African countries. The projects have a total value of over 20 million euros, of which approximately 20% from Italian partners.

Elisa Zambito Marsala, Head of Education Ecosystem and Global Value Programs Intesa Sanpaolo, has ofchiarahave: "With Build your Future we are meeting young people all over Italy to convey to them a greater awareness of the social and economic impact of major global transformations and skills necessary to address them. Among these, the 'life sciences' have a particular role in a country that must address the demographic challenges arising from the ageing population. Thanks to the close collaboration with theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, among the best academic institutions for integration between innovative teaching and scientific research, we have promoted an Observatory on global health with researchers from all over the world. Intesa Sanpaolo strongly believes in supporting research, in the valorization of talent, international exchanges and talent attraction".

Andrea Rossi, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma commented: "The birth of the Global Health Observatory and Laboratory that we created together with Intesa Sanpaolo represents, for theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, a further step forward towards one of our main objectives: to provide precise indications regarding the health needs of the country and to start forms of study and experimentation of concrete solutions for the well-being of people. The challenge is for everyone: doctors, ingengineers, biologists, nutritionists, health managers and field professionals. We want to be protagonists of the great changes in health systems such as the Italian one, bringing an active contribution so that enabling technologies can support the efficient functioning of a public service that is all the world envies us and that still has room for improvement".

The broadest synergy with Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma is part of the commitment of Intesa Sanpaolo which, through the Education Ecosystem and Global Value Programs structure led by Elisa Zambito Marsala, promotes - in line with the strategic agenda for EU Research and the fourth Mission of the PNRR - collaborations with universities and schools through support for research, scholarships, teaching to promote educational inclusion, the valorization of merit, the attractiveness of universities and contribute to the economic and social growth of the territories and the country.

Intesa Sanpaolo has promoted a permanent Observatory, Look4ward, which aims to identify the needs for new skills and from which it emerges that the professions of the future will be increasingly characterized by the fusion of vertical technical knowledge, transversal skills and relational skills. In 2023 the Group led by the Managing Director and CEO Carlo Messina has involved over 2000 schools and universities, 4.000 are expected in the 2022-2025 Business Plan.
