Internships in the healthcare sector for Masters in Medicine and Surgery, Medicine and Surgery, Medicine and Surgery "Medtech" (LM-41)

CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS 

The administrative management of internships in the healthcare sector for Degree Courses in Medicine and Surgery, Medicine and Surgery, Medicine and Surgery “Medtech” is in charge of the Health Area Internships and Agreements Office.  

The internship in the healthcare sector is of a training and/or orientation nature and starts from the first academic semester of the third year of the course. 

The general supervision of the internships is entrusted to the Presidents of the Degree Courses, specifically: 

  • Single-cycle Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery – Prof. Bruno Vincenzi 
  • Single-cycle master's degree in Medicine and Surgery – Prof. Claudio Pedone  
  • Single-cycle master's degree in Medicine and Surgery “Medtech” – Prof. Giovanni Di Pino 

For each clinical and surgical training area, there is also an Internship Coordinator; the list of Coordinators of the singinternships of the Degree Courses in Medicine and Surgery and in Medicine and Surgery for the 2023-24 academic year it can be downloaded on this page. 

For the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery “Medtech”, whose students will begin internships in the healthcare sector starting from the academic year. 2024-25, the list of Coordinators is being defined. 

Internships in the healthcare sector for the degree courses in question take place mainly at the Fondazione Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico in Rome and in a residual form at other structures in the training network (healthcare companies affiliated with the University).

All detailed information on internships in the healthcare sector is communicated by the Healthcare Area Internships and Agreements Office before the start of activities directly to the Student Representatives of each year of the course.

PRACTICAL-EVALUATION INTERNSHIPS FOR THE PURPOSES OF LICENSING THE PROFESSION OF A SURGEON (ENABLING INTERNSHIPS)

This type of internship is foreseen only and exclusively for students enrolled in single-cycle Master's Degree Courses in Medicine and Surgery, Medicine and Surgery e Medicine and Surgery “Medtech". 

The Practical-Evaluative Internship (TPV) for the purposes of qualifying to practice the profession of Medical Surgeon is defined by the MIUR Decree of 9 May 2018, n. 58, as an activity aimed at ascertaining the student's abilities relating to "knowing how to do and knowing how to be a doctor".  

Pursuant to the Legislative Decree of 17 March 2020, n. 18, obtaining a degree in the aforementioned single-cycle master's degree courses qualifies you to practice the profession of medical surgeon after obtaining the Judgment of Suitability for the Practical-Evaluative Internship. 

The TPV takes place during the fifth and sixth year of the course and is divided into a training period to be necessarily achieved in the following areas: 

  1. Medical Area (100 hours) 
  1. Surgical Area (100 hours) 
  1. General Medicine Area (100 hours) 

To monitor the frequency of qualifying internships, at the beginning of the second semester of the fifth year of the course, interns receive three additional intern evaluation booklets from the Health Area Internships and Agreements Office, specifically: 

  • Trainee evaluation booklet - Practical-evaluative internship in General Medicine 
  • Trainee evaluation booklet - Practical-evaluative internship in the medical area 
  • Trainee evaluation booklet - Practical-evaluative internship in the surgical area 

The TPV evaluation booklets are official documents that must be kept by trainees with the utmost care; upon completion of the TPV and at least 15 days before the expected graduation date, the aforementioned booklets must be returned to the Health Area Internships and Agreements Office which subjects them to the control of a delegate of the Medical Association. 

Failure to attend the TPV in whole or in part will result in the attribution of a judgment of unsuitability; in this case it will be necessary to attend the internship again for which the number of hours necessary for the qualification to the medical profession has not been reached.

NOTE ON THE TPV (QUALIZING INTERNSHIP) IN GENERAL MEDICINE

The practical-evaluative internship in General Medicine involves the attendance of 100 hours of internship in General Medicine clinics located in the area of ​​Rome and its province. 

THEUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma has a list of General Medicine Tutors that can be downloaded on this page, responsible for supervising the qualifying internship of the students. 

This list is provided by the Medical Association which periodically assigns to the Universities some tutors available to carry out tutoring for students. 

The assignment of GP tutors to interns takes place centrally by the Coordinator of the Internship in General Medicine. 

All the details relating to the General Medicine TPV are provided to students by the Health Area Internships and Agreements Office in the months preceding the start of the internship itself. 

Internships in the healthcare sector for the Physiotherapy degree (L/SNT2) 

The administrative management of internships in the healthcare sector of the Physiotherapy Degree Course is the responsibility of the Healthcare Area Internships and Agreements Office ([email protected]). 

The internship in the healthcare sector is of a professionalizing nature and begins for Physiotherapy students starting from the first semester of the first year of the Course of Studies and continues until the end of the three-year course. 

The coordination of internships in the healthcare sector for Physiotherapy students is entrusted to the following teachers:

The internships take place at the Fondazione Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico of Rome and at other structures affiliated with the University (health companies, institutions, etc.) where students have the opportunity to approach from a professional point of viewing different operations compared to those available at the CBM Polyclinic.

Internships in the healthcare sector for the Degree in Nursing (L/SNT1) 

The administrative management of internships in the healthcare sector of the Degree Course in Nursing is the responsibility of the Healthcare Area Internships and Agreements Office. 

The internship in the healthcare sector is of a professionalizing nature and begins for Nursing students starting from the first year of the course of studies (starting from the month of January) and continues until the end of the three-year course. 

The coordination of the internships is entrusted to the following teachers:

The internships take place for the first year entirely at the Fondazione Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico in Rome; starting from the second year also at other structures affiliated with the University (health authorities, hospice, etc) of the territory.

Tinternship in the healthcare sector for the Master's Degree in Medical Radiology Techniques for Imaging and Radiotherapy (L/SNT3) 

The administrative management of internships in the healthcare sector of the TRMIR Degree Course is the responsibility of the Healthcare Area Internships and Agreements Office ([email protected]). 

The internship in the healthcare sector is of a professionalizing nature and starts from the second academic semester of the first year of the course, continuing until the end of the three-year course. 

The coordination of internships in the healthcare sector for TRMIR students is entrusted to the following teachers:

The general supervision of the internships is entrusted to the President of the Degree Course Prof Sara Ramella.  

The internships take place at the Fondazione Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico of Rome and at other structures affiliated with the University (health companies, institutions, etc.) where students have the opportunity to approach from a professional point of viewing different operations compared to those available at the CBM Polyclinic.

Internships in the healthcare sector for the Master's Degree in Food Sciences and Human Nutrition (LM-61)

The administrative management of internships in the health sector of the Master's Degree Course in Food Sciences and Human Nutrition is the responsibility of the Health Area Internships and Agreements Office ([email protected]).  

The internship is scheduled to start from the second academic semester of the second year of the course at the end of the study programme. 

The coordination of internships in the healthcare sector for the students of the course in question is entrusted to the Prof Manon Khazrai. 

The internship takes place at the Fondazione Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico in Rome or at other affiliated facilities (health companies, professional nutrition practices, etc.).
