The General Director of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital, Gianluca Oricchio, presented today, in the context of a joint press conference with the President of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti, an extraordinary plan for reduce the waiting list for a CT scan to 3 days and that for a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance to 2 weeks. To achieve the goal, the spaces for undergoing these health services have been increased by 50 percent until the end of the year. Between September and December 2014, the number of CAT scans and MRIs that can be performed at the Campus Bio-Medico under the NHS regime will increase from 12 to 18 (+6).
The initiative is a forerunner to a regional plan for the cutting of waiting lists, which was announced today at a press conference by the President of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti, and which provides for a allocation of 7 million euros to the local health authorities.
"In line with the regional strategies – he explained at the press conference Gianluca Oricchio, General Director of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital – we have reallocated available resources to services such as CAT scans and MRIs, which are among the healthcare services with the longest waiting lists. By extending the service hours until the end of the year, we want to make an effective contribution to solving a problem deeply felt by citizens. This organizational flexibility is also the result of restructuring and voluntary salary cuts that we have imposed on ourselves in the last two years". Among the measures described by Oricchio as part of the initiative, the activation within the Campus Bio-Medico of a hospital system for verifying the real need on the part of the patient to carry out the required diagnostic test "in order to responsibly use the available resources, which are the money of all of us who pay taxes".
The times in which CAT scans and MRIs can be carried out under the NHS convention at the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital are immediately extended as follows: Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 24.00, Saturday from 8.00 to 20.00. The service will also remain open on Sundays, from 8.00 to 14.00. To make reservations, the University Hospital has made available a dedicated service via online formavailable on the website www.policlinicocampusbiomedico.it. In this way, it will be possible to be called back to confirm the reservation without waiting for your turn on the phone.
