Fill out the survey to contribute to the employment inclusion of people with epilepsy
Improving the opportunities for inclusion of people with epilepsy in the labor market is the main objective of the EpilepsyPOWER project. An ambitious initiative, co-financed by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme, of which the Neurology Research Unit ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma is a partner together with a network of organizations in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Ireland and France.
Coordinated by Luiss, the three-year project involves the development of an open access e-learning platform intended for people with epilepsy, university staff, students and all figures employed in human resources and recruitment agencies.
"One in 100 people in the world suffer from epilepsy. - explains Giovanni Assenza, neurologist at UCBM - These numbers seem excessive, but this is only because 1 in 2 people with epilepsy suffers serious social stigma. Stigma reduces the likelihood of employment and people with epilepsy tend not tochiaraexposing themselves to avoidable risks to their health".
The first step concerns the collection, via Survey, some information on the general knowledge of the pathology and on the employment status of people with epilepsy, so as to outline an integrated learning methodology.
Subsequently, working groups will be organized, involving the partners and main protagonists of the EpilepsyPOWER project, to assess the needs of people with epilepsy regarding their employability, workplace safety and communication with employers and collaborators in order to to define best practices.
The ultimate goal is not only to implement inclusion systems for people with epilepsy, enhancing and enhancing their abilities, but to spread a culture that increases the number of "epilepsy-friendly" corporate social responsibility initiatives.
