I return with enthusiasm to that academic world from which I come and which has given me so much satisfaction". With these words the teacher. Raffaele Calabrò, cardiologist and former parliamentarian, commented on the appointment as Rector by the University Board of Directors. After the designation a few weeks ago, Calabrò waited for the yes of the Chamber of Deputies, last June 28, to be able to leave his office in Montecitorio and have the official go-ahead for the appointment.
Full Professor of Cardiology at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli”, after twenty years of political career, will take office on 1 September at the Roman university. Born in 1947, originally from Lucera in the province of Foggia, graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Cardiology, he began his university career in 1987 as an associate in Pediatric Cardiology at the first Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Naples. He was also director of the Cardiology Department at the “Monaldi” health company in Naples contributed to the projectUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in its early stages of structuring and development.
To congratulate Prof. Calabrò is the outgoing Rector, teacher. Andrea Onetti Muda, appointed Director of the Laboratory Department of the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome. “I leave the rectorate in the hands of Raffaele Calabrò, to whom I send my heartfelt wishes for good work, with the awareness of having lived a unique period of my professional career – said Onetti Muda.
