Opened on Simulation Center dell 'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, simulation and experimentation center for business, research and teaching unique in all of Central and Southern Italy.
A structure open to the territory, inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso who cut the ribbon together with the university leaders on the occasion of theopening of the 2024-2025 academic year. The event had the honour of hosting the lectio magistralis of the President of the CNR, prof. Maria Chiara Carrozza Carriage and the presence of the President of the Lazio Region Francesco Rocca.
Over 400 square meters, inside the modern CU.Bo building with "almost zero" energy impact, divided into spaces equipped for promote learning through new technologies, promote research projects on enabling technologies and Open Innovation in the sector Health-Tech-Sustainability, provide spaces for businesses and other centers for their research and development activities.
The first multi-sensory Immersive Reality room in Europe, designed and built in Italy specifically by Accurate for theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, is able to offer an environment in which heat, wind, visual and olfactory effects really influence the work. Reality is faithfully reproduced and with it the physical and emotional stresses (stress, tension, noises and more) that the operators experience in clinical scenarios, in home care and in emergencies.
The Simulation Center UCBM It is a modular platform for teaching that is increasingly based on experience and interactivity. to offer students and all researchers learning opportunities in real-life situations and, if necessary, to learn by making mistakes in complete safety. Thanks to the organized spaces which reproduce real hospital and domestic environments and highly technological equipment combined with innovative machinery and mannequins, it will be possible to carry out simulations in non-clinical fields from cardiology and interventional radiology, to rianimazione, to operating room to dentistry for aspiring doctors and nurses. The rooms will be home to theJoint Observatory and Laboratory UCBM-Global Health AgreementThe classrooms may also be used from businesses, small and medium-sized and not only, working on new devices and technologies. Sensors, cameras and a real direction They also allow you to record, review and reuse the exercises and experiments carried out within the Simulation Center.
"The Simulation Center of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma represents a unique reality for the whole of Central-Southern Italy - has ofchiarato the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso - It is a platform designed and built in our country, at the forefront of teaching, but also a point of reference for businesses and start-ups, which will be able to develop research activities on the most innovative technologies here. The Simulation Center represents a tangible example of Italy's leading role in advancements and innovations in the various fields of technology".
"The Simulation Center will help our students grow in their passion for studying and in their desire to do something great in life, in line with the values that have always inspired our University – stated the President UCBM, Carlo Tosti - As St. Josemaria Escrivà loved to say, "Dream and reality will surpass your dreams." Today, after a thirty-year history, this project is realizing a great dream based on technological innovation at the service of the global formation of the person. We have an additional opportunity to bring cutting-edge, capable and passionate professionals into the society of the future.
"Our University is proud to have inaugurated and already activated the new Simulation Center on the occasion of the inauguration day of the new Academic Year. The Simulation Center is a fundamental tool that a modern University must have today to provide increasingly experiential, innovative and research-based teaching, also for the most advanced post-graduate professional training. - underlined the teacher. Eugenio Guglielmelli, Rector UCBM - This structure is therefore a virtuous opportunity for collaboration with research institutions and with all the leading Italian companies that know how to bring cutting-edge Made in Italy to the world. With them we want to increasingly seize the strategic opportunities that a platform like this can offer to develop a technology transfer model capable of attracting more and more large companies, innovative SMEs, research centers, incubators and start-ups around the theme of advanced simulation to increase quality and accelerate innovation and social impact".
"Research-based education represents a university model based on the so-called 'competitive excellence' to attract and retain the best talents and prepare them to face current challenges – underlined the prof Maria Chiara Carrozza Carrozza, President of the CNR - Today, AI for Science is revolutionizing and accelerating scientific discoveries in multiple fields of knowledge, representing a challenge of responsibility and competence. Research allows us to address contemporary scientific questions, studying and analyzing phenomena with all the tools available, in contact with the world of public and private innovation and cultivating the method and culture of 'scientific evidence'. Through personal participation in laboratory and simulation activities, learning is enriched and fosters the ability to approach knowledge in an interdisciplinary way. In this context, the Simulation Center UCBM represents a complete growth opportunity".
"The Simulation Center UCBM helps us build the future – he said Andrea Rossi, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager UCBM - We have set up a multifunctional platform capable of involving students as well as professionals, teams of scientists as well as research teams of companies. We consider it a driving force for development for the University, for companies and consequently for the entire country. The immersive room, unique in all of Europe, is the flagship of a project destined over the years to transform our university into a true "research and technology transfer hub. A great opportunity for our young people, which today we share with the academic community, with the territory, and with the country".
"As president of SESAME, It fills me with pride to see the birth of centers of excellence such as the Simulation Center UCBM - he has declared Pier Luigi Ingrassia, Scientific Director of the CeSi, President SESAM - It is now documented that simulation plays an essential role in improving healthcare systems in the near future, as highlighted by the Global Consensus Statement on Simulation-based Practice in Healthcare drawn up by 50 different Scientific Societies from 67 countries and published last May. Facilities like this simulation laboratory are essential to train professionals able to face the challenges of clinical practice with competence and safety, contributing to quality healthcare and the reduction of errors".
